Today:

Today, we went to the zoo w/Steph (phanelb) and her kiddos... (i stole this pic from her blog cause i forgot my camera)
it was a perfect day there: we got there early. it was not crowded. it was not too hot. the white tiger was out and ANIMATED! the kids played well together. we ate lunch. we played in the indoor barn thing in texas town. we left. seriously, it doesnt get any better! I LOVE MY ZOO PASS!

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE: today is monday... i have to wait till thurs for my hubby to get home now. he just started his new consulting job at deloitte. last week, (his first at this new job) he was gone only wed & thurs. but, now, he will be gone mon-thurs EVERY WEEK!!! ok, i can do this?!??? i just have to tell myself what a great opportunity this is for him. i am independant, RIGHT?? who needs a man at home EVERY night? well, at least there is less pressure for me to clean and cook a great meal every night! (did i even do that anyways?) i guess it just hit me - i'll really miss him, but i guess i can get used to this?

You're cute. That would be really hard. You don't realize how much you miss them and how much they help out with the fam until they are gone. On the postive side. I always feel like I can get house projects done a lot quicker when Ted is gone. I think it goes back to not having to worry about dinner and a clean house and I can just blitz through a project.

Emo if you are ever lonely just call me. Come up for dinner, or we'll meet at the gym, take the kids to the park... You name it! I know you will enjoy a couple of days a week of freedom but on those lonely days I'm here :) Thanks for s fun day at the zoo.

oh man, i am a little afraid of "real life" even though i don't see josh too much already. my dad traveled during the week too. but ya know what, if anyone can do it, you can...you'll be great. if he is traveling all week, can you live anywhere you want? just wondering if now that steph is moving, you are thinking about it too.

Fun time at the zoo! Sorry Joe is gone, just keep looking on the bright side of not having to cook and clean as often!

wow that would kinda suck...well more than just kinda. but it probably is a great opportunity and your positive attitude will probably make it not suck so bad. you are a great mom to take your kids to the zoo in the middle of the summer!

I just read meredith's comment and she's got a good point. so at least you know it's ok to be too tired cuz he's not home anyway. haha...but then that's when you wish you could have it most. it's always funner to want what you can't have. and weekends will be sooo extra exciting and fulfilling! ;)

putting out is a chore??? i really LOVE MY CHORES THEN!!! ;)

i honestly dont think in all the years i have been married i have ever been "too tired" or "had a headache". there might have been a time or two i might have been truly asleep (and so comatosed that nothing will wake me); but i am always sad when i discover i missed an opportunity!! ;)

Emily, what a fun day at the zoo. You look absolutely gorgeous. Cory was gone 60+ days of the summer which was really hard for me when it came to having help with the kids. But it did make it more relaxing knowing I didn't have to have dinner on the table at a certain time (and it didn't have to be a NICE dinner either), and the house can look lived in, and the nighttimes were kind of nice to have to yourself. But heck, I'd much rather have him home. I'm sorry your hubby will be gone so much. Is this just at the beginning, or is this just how the job is going to be? You're going to do great though! You're tough!

Em....looks like you had a blast. I loved my zoo pass too. We did not renew this year since Meg would be in all day kindergarden.
I know it will be hard without Joe, but you do have a lot of good friends around to help out if you need us...and believe me when I say that I love having a few hours by myslef every night when Doug is at school and Meg is in bed...it rocks!

For everyone that commented on the "chores", I think I can help you (and you do need help)
- I've got a full selection of therapy "tools" that are designed to help; you ever heard of the Big Hummer? And I'm not talking about a car. I take credit card or money order.
- Your partner obviously needs training; I have a therapy group that meets every Thursday night at Baby Dolls and Saturday morning at Fantasy Cabaret; the buffets are fabulous
- If you have major mental blocks, then drinking or drugs usually help
- And a quick survey: you would rather clean the house or mow the lawn then saddle up? If you answered yes, then please reconsider drinking
