Sanity at 1pm

So, this is what i am doing right now.

I am enjoying my cookies and milk. It is "treats at noon" as my mom calls it. Although it is a bit past noon, it is the perfect time for a snack - i sneek these while my kids are napping or quietly playing. Also, right about now, i am DESPERATELY needing a pick-me-up as i see all that i have to get done today (starting in about 20 mins). So, right now, during my cookies and milk moment, i can say: "i know there is a dirty diaper on the floor over there, and dishes i the sink, and crumbs on the floor, and laundry buzzing at me, and... but i JUST DONT CARE!" When my "treats at noon" end, i have to get up and teach a million piano lessons, take Aaron to football practice, and be a mom... But for right now, i will just sit and eat cookies.

ps. i think i am personally keeping chips ahoy chewy in business... (that is what my husband thinks anyways) Honestly, i have been donig "treats at noon" with the same cookies (well, until a few years ago it was just normal chips ahoy) and at the same time for the last 6 years...

That's right. When Emily sees 5 boxes of Little Debbie Brownies on sale for a dollar, she's not afraid to buy $30 worth. It's ok, she deserves it.

Now if only I could figure out how to keep those cookies from going to my waist ...and thighs ...and cheeks ...and rump ...did I mention waist yet?

Coming up next on Emily's blog: "Sanity at 1:05pm"

Okay I am glad to see that someone other than me has a little, oh whats the phrase, SANITY MOMOENT! This is where you get to eat Yummy cake with milk, or a Dr. Pepper from Sonic! HEy ya know what it is a free moment because you are mom, and mom gets whatever she needs to function! I love this!

you're not alone, girl! (those cookies are SO good!) I have a Dr Pepper every day around 2pm - it totally gets me through the day.

Hey, clearly it's working. I remember you bringing your Chip's Ahoy to that party for some kid in preschool awhile back. I am personally keeping Diet Dr. Pepper and Dove chocolates in business.

Does Aaron like football? Who does he play for? I've been hesitant to let Jake do football despite his begging and pleading. I'm afraid he's going to break a bone and stunt his growth after a Dateline special I saw. I should never ever watch those.

I am with you my sista!! I love to eat junk food when my kids are down for a nap. It is so nice to just relax in peace and quiet and enjoy every moment of whatever I am eating and not have the kids wanting some too! Yeah, I guess I can be a little selfish about my junk food!

How do you keep from eating the whole bag? One or two cookies for me just wouldn't do it. I try not to have that stuff around because it's too accessible and I have no self control. I can admit it :)

Okay, Emily, at first when I read that you were doing this at 1pm, I was thinking 1 in the morning which made me think (hey, Emily gets midnight cravings like me!) Isn't it so great to savor those little moments of sanity? Sometimes I will feed the kids THEIR lunch, and then send them off to play so that I can eat MY lunch in complete silence. When was it in life that these simple pleasures became such an important part of our days?
