The Blue Bubble

So, we are having a blast here in hawaii (although, i really do miss my hubby)
HOWEVER...
Let me introduce you to a blue bubble: technically it is the portuguese man of war jelly fish. they are tiny, they look like a bubble blown in blue bubble gum (hence, the locals call it the blue bubble) PS. they sting really bad. people get stung occaisionally, but just a little welt on an ankle or something... Charity was not so lucky...
one must have wrapped itself all over her and got stuck in her legs... she just started screaming. i thought she fell or got sand in her eyes. she was shaking and pretty traumatized. she got the little stingers caught all around her legs, and well, here is the picture - all those little things that look like scratches are the welts left by those stingers- OUCH!! we rushed home from the beach, and i bathed her, poured vinegar (which i was told would help take the sting out), and she just wanted to go to sleep. seriously, i had to help her breathe through the pain... it took FOREVER to calm her down (well, part of that is she is pretty dramatic) but still.... she has since told me she doesnt want to go to hukilau anymore cause she is afraid of the blue bubbles. i think she is serious.

Wow! I can just imagine how traumatized she was. Those look like they hurt pretty bad. I hope she has the courage to go back to the beach after a life-changing event like that... and i miss you too.

Em- That happened to me in Hawaii. Only it was on my arm. The fire dept. there told us to put meat tenderizer on it, it really worked! Poor girl. That sucks

Oh, Im not sure about the reunion, what about you?

Em that is seriously SO sad. I am glad she is okay, hopefully you can get her to go back to the beach... I hope she got ice cream for dinner :) Miss you a ton. Life at the gym has been unproductive I have been unmotivatingly just doing yoga, spin & pilates. It has been a nice break but I can't wait for a serious work out when you come back!! You will come back right? We haven't lost you to the luring beauties of hawaii yet have we?

How traumatizing! I am afraid of the ocean due to sharks and blue bubbles (however, I hadn't ever known to call them that before!) How long are you guys there for? I was thinking like a week or two stay in Hawaii, but it seems like you're becoming natives! How fun!

Oh my heck! That is sooo sad! Dramatic or not (we have one of those at our house, sadly it's my 5 year old boy when it comes to getting hurt) I'm sure she was in a ton of pain! Could no one pee on her real quick?! Then run home and get the vinegar?! Sorry, just had to crack a joke, now that it's all over. Poor girl!
Now how is it that you are so lucky to spend a month there? Do your parents live there permanately?

Yikes! That is my worst nightmare. Hope she can muster up the courage to get back in the water. Don't know if I could.

So I've been waiting for an update....too bad it had to be this. I know how bad those hurt and I can only imagine your little drama in that much pain. Give her hugs and kisses for us

Aw!!! I hope that her leg feels better now! That is so hard because you don't want her to be afraid to go back in the ocean...
About 2 weeks ago, Kingston weighed 14 pounds and that was at about 2 1/2 months, but I feel like he's gained a ton of weight since then. And he seems to be getting SO long!

hey you forgot to mention how I took care of her and spoon fed her the ice cream when she finally got dressed. I still feel bad for her..

yeah, I was going to say, I've heard about meat tenderizer, but I've never had to use it. I always think about bringing some to the beach with me though. poor girl!
